I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about myself and my experience in healthcare.

After completing my bachelor of science in chemistry and biology at Quincy College I entered medical school at Loyola University of Chicago, where my sights and aspirations were on becoming the “team” physician for the Chicago Bears. This goal was quickly set aside after an early rotation in my medical student training with the neurosurgeons at Loyola. A long-time curiosity to observe a brain operation was made possible during this rotation and it changed the course of my medical career path. I was awed by the majesty of brain surgery and the supreme confidence and skills required of the neurosurgeons.

During my residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center I developed my love of the spinal surgical subspecialty within neurosurgery because of the amazing way a patient’s life can be forever improved by successful spine surgery. After completing my residency in 1999 I began practicing as a neurosurgeon in the Chicago Northwest suburbs.

Now, as part of the OrthoIllinois organization, I continue to practice my personal philosophy for treating patients: I treat each of them the way I would treat my own family. I believe patients are the center of the healthcare treatment “team” and all treatment decisions are made taking into consideration the patient’s physical, emotional and psychological needs to achieve the best outcome possible.

As a neurosurgeon I commonly confront life-threatening (brain tumor, trauma) and significantly life-altering (spinal fractures, severe disabling pain) medical conditions that create a chaotic, incredibly frightening medical crisis that requires fast decisions. It is during these times of crisis when the highest quality neurosurgeon rises above and leads the patient and family to a successful outcome.

When I am not practicing medicine, I enjoy playing golf and traveling with my family as much as possible. I am a music buff and especially enjoy attending live performances and concerts.

Thank you for entrusting me with your care. I look forward to meeting with you.

Here's what my patients are saying:

"After two and a half years in pain, three MRIs, four rounds of shots, therapy to no resolve, Dr. Broderick told me exactly what was going on in my lower back. He informed me not only what it would take to fix it but the entire process of recovery. Then did exactly what he said with the results he quoted me and I'm coming back strong." - Anonymous review

"Dr. Broderick is the best!  Not one surprise.  He gave me every option, informed me of all the possible outcomes and was spot on with every prediction.  Made me feel relaxed and comfortable.  He fixed me.  I should have found him eight years before I did.  Thanks for restoring a pain free life."  Alan - review

"Dr. Broderick has left the Arlington Heights area and has relocated his practice to Huntley/Rockford, IL.  I feel that it is a no-brainer to travel to his new location.  I have made three appointments and I believe he has solved my problem.  I am happy that I didn't change doctors due to his move.  He is a bright person and I believe he made a wise choice for himself and his patients.  A great doctor is hard to find!"  Richard K. review

"What I like best about Dr. Broderick (besides his great level o skill) is that he is conservative in his approach to surgery and needs a high level success criteria before performing surgery."  Robert L. - review

"My experience with Dr. Broderick and his staff has been nothing but positive.  My surgery went extremely well and I am steadily improving week by week.  Best decision I ever made." - Sean K., review

"Great bedside manners, thorough in explanation and in presentation.  Never made me feel like any question not necessary and even answered repeated questions.  My surgery was a complete success.  I have my life back and I'm happy.  I would and am recommending him to anyone who has my experience."  Rae W. - review.
