Specialties: Sports Medicine, Shoulder, Hip & Knee

VOTED_BEST_DOCTORS_2013My goal is to provide you with the highest quality specialty orthopedic care available. I am committed to utilizing the most advanced standards and technologies to help you achieve the best outcome possible.

I focus my practice on comprehensive shoulder surgery, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, and elbow, and the treatment of sports or activity-related injuries. Following medical school and my surgical residency, I completed an additional subspecialty training program, or fellowship, in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine to further refine and specialize my skills.

Since that time, I have remained actively involved in continuing medical education, research, and the development of advanced surgical technique. In 2007 I developed a revolutionary less-invasive technique for repairing massive rotator cuff tears that is less traumatic, reduces operating time and encourages faster recovery. This technique is now being adapted by other orthopedic surgeons throughout the world.

Since 2009, several groups of international shoulder surgeons from Europe and Asia traveled to Rockford to observe my practice and learn my advance arthroscopic surgical techniques. I have been honored with invitations to lecture at national and international conferences and I have authored numerous textbook chapters and journal articles on shoulder and elbow surgery in medical publications.

I have a special interest in pioneering clinical outcomes research and have developed and integrated this innovative research into my daily practice. Through the collection of specific measures, I intend to track and identify best practices in the treatment of various orthopedic conditions. This research will contribute to higher quality care and patients’ return to healthy, active lifestyles as quickly as possible.

Currently, I serve as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Adjunct Clinic Instructor at Midwestern University, and I also assist with Northern Illinois University’s Athletic Trainer Certified Student Training Program at Rockford College.
