Umber Ahmad, DO
Welcome to OrthoIllinois!
I’d like to take this opportunity to share a little about my background, training, and Rheumatology practice.
From an early age, I was privileged to witness the transformative power of medicine through my father, a dedicated physician. His commitment to his patients, coupled with his lifelong interest in expanding his knowledge, instilled in me a deep appreciation for the art and science of healing.
However it was not until I experienced the healthcare system from the other side, as a patient, that my passion for medicine had solidified. Encountering various medical professionals during my own health journey, I quickly realized the profound impact a well-rounded medical team can have on a patient’s well-being.
With that realization, I elected to attend medical school following my graduation from Loyola University of Chicago. After earning my Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, I underwent my residency training with the Department of Internal Medicine at Wright State University in Ohio. It was during my residency training that I decided to specialize as a Rheumatologist.
Rheumatology requires a keen analytical mind, a dedication to staying abreast of rapidly evolving research, and a commitment to providing comprehensive care to patients with chronic and often debilitating conditions. More than just a fascination with science, I am drawn to rheumatology because of its potential to positively transform lives.
I pursued this advanced, specialty training as a Rheumatology Fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Today, I have been in practice since 2018 and believe it is a privilege to have the opportunity to help my patients improve their mobility, pain, and overall quality of life. While I have experience treating general rheumatology and osteoporosis, I hold a special interest in Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, Inflammatory myositis, Vasculitis and musculoskeletal disorders.
When I am not practicing medicine, I enjoy time with my family, hiking, gardening, photography, painting, traveling, and cooking.
Thank you for selecting me as your Rheumatology specialist. I’ll strive to be a collaborative partner in your medical journey through the challenges your condition presents and I look forward to helping you achieve your own well-being and desired active lifestyle.
Sincerely,
Amber Ahmad, DO
