Brenna Koch, PA-C
I was born and raised in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, and I have been involved in sports my entire life. I was always drawn to medicine and desired the ability to diagnose conditions and improve the quality of life of others. After sustaining a sports injury in high school, I had a great experience with an orthopedic team which led me to pursue an advanced practitioner career, specifically in orthopedic surgery. I attended Marquette University on the physician assistant (PA) track and gained several clinical experiences such as working in a hospital setting, and later, as a medical assistant in orthopedics, which only solidified my passion for the specialty. I later received my master’s degree from the University of Dubuque PA Program. As a PA, I am able to play an integral role in hands-on patient-centered care, including diagnosing conditions, ordering tests, prescribing medications, performing office procedures and injections, and assisting in surgery.
My patient care philosophy combines open communication with extensive patient education to involve my patients in the entire process of their care. My goal is to integrate shared decision-making, allowing my patients to feel seen and heard. This way, we can come to an agreement on the best treatment plan for them as an individual person. I believe it is important to be open to questions and always willing to explain further if my patients need clarification. I want to combine compassion and empathy with evidence-based medicine to give them the best quality care and experience with our team at OrthoIllinois.
