Dr. Anthony Rizzo, DO, is a distinguished physician at OrthoIllinois, a division of OrthoMidwest, specializing in sports medicine and musculoskeletal care. Dr. Rizzo holds double major degrees in Chemistry and Molecular/Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he developed a deep passion for musculoskeletal medicine through his training in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). His fascination with the body’s mechanics and healing processes has continually driven his approach to patient care.

Dr. Rizzo completed his residency at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, serving as Chief Resident. He was honored with The Gold Humanism Honor Society Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. During his residency, he provided medical care to athletes at local high schools, an experience that inspired his focus on sports medicine. He further advanced his expertise by completing a Sports Medicine Fellowship following his residency.

Before joining OrthoIllinois, Dr. Rizzo practiced in the northern Illinois region and served as a team physician for Rockford University. He continues to hold clinical faculty positions at his alma mater, Midwestern University, and remains actively involved with local high schools and athletic teams. Dr. Rizzo is deeply committed to community engagement, believing that giving back and building rapport is integral to both personal and professional fulfillment.

Dr. Rizzo provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages, from infants to seniors, and is passionate about every aspect of sports medicine. He is dedicated to treating patients as individuals rather than as their conditions, believing that each person knows their own body best. By prioritizing empathy and open communication, Dr. Rizzo builds relationships of trust and works collaboratively with his patients to identify the most effective treatment plans.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Rizzo is an avid Disney enthusiast, frequently visiting Disney World with his wife and children to enjoy memorable family experiences. He also enjoys horror movies, reading fantasy novels, weightlifting, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
