Scott Trenhaile, MD, FAAOS

As an innovator with extensive knowledge in shoulder, knee and elbow injuries, Dr. Trenhaile is a shoulder surgeon  specializing in advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive shoulder surgery, including rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, and shoulder arthroplasty. He serves as Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical Center and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Trenhaile is an active member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, a Fellow of the AAOS, and a Fellow of AANA.  A frequent national and international faculty member, Dr. Trenhaile has lectured extensively on rotator cuff repair, biologic augmentation, shoulder instability, shoulder arthroplasty, navigation, mixed reality, active intelligence, and surgical innovation. He has authored more than 60 publications, book chapters, surgical technique articles, and educational works, and holds 11 issued U.S. patents related to soft-tissue repair and surgical technology. 

Dr. Trenhaile serves on the AANA Copernicus Initiative Committee for Shoulder Evaluation Development and recently served as an expert surgeon for determining the benchmark of protocol for ACL Knee Reconstruction.  He holds a number of patents for surgical instruments and techniques that are used throughout the world to allow surgeons to perform minimally invasive arthroscopic orthopedic procedures that were previous “open techniques.”

Dr. Trenhaile has been selected by his peers for multi-year inclusion in the prestigious Castle Connolly Top Doctors and the Best Doctors in America 2019-2020 lists.
