Mohit Gupta, MD
Mohit Gupta, MD credits his mother for inspiring his interest in pursuing a medical career from an early age. She had experienced an array of symptoms such as photosensitive rash, alopecia, and joint pain for a long time. It was only after months of diagnostic testing that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. It impressed young Mohit as miraculous to watch his mother improve after starting what he viewed as a “wonder” medication.
He pursued this interest through his education and attained his medical degree at Dayan Medical College and Hospital in India. He followed this with internship studies in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, before completing his Internal Medicine residency training at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.
Both his internship and residency experiences cemented his dream of specializing as a Rheumatologist. He found each patient population had its own pattern of medical vulnerability; however, they all shared the attitude of gratitude. These experiences helped to foster his passion for helping and treating a wide variety of patients. To further enhance his knowledge, he pursued advanced, additional training with a Rheumatology Fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center.
In his practice, Dr. Gupta treats a wide spectrum of diseases with special interest in Autoimmune Diseases, Lupus, Sjogren’s Disease, Scleroderma, Derma Myositis/Polymyositis, Vasculitis, Connective Tissue Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Gout/Pseudogout.
For Dr. Gupta, one of the best aspects of rheumatology is to be able to develop long-term relationships with patients, enhancing their care and adapting to changing needs. With ongoing clinical research, there are now more efficacious and better-tolerated medications or biologics, making a profound positive impact on patients’ quality of life. He approaches his practice with empathy, building a trusting relationship with his patients, and adopts an integrated approach to treatment considering both medical and lifestyle factors.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Gupta enjoys hiking, traveling to national parks, and sporting activities.
