Zachary Goldstein, MD

Zachary Goldstein, MD

Dr. Zachary Goldstein has demonstrated a lifelong passion for science, with early interests in physics and chemistry shaping his educational trajectory. Encouraged by his mother, a dentist, to consider a career in medicine due to his strong science background, Dr. Goldstein pursued undergraduate studies at Yeshiva University in New York City, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, cum laude.

During college, Dr. Goldstein developed a keen interest in orthopedics after shadowing several orthopedic surgeons. Following graduation, he completed a year of orthopedic research at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush in Chicago, further solidifying his commitment to the field. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree and deepened his fascination with orthopedics, particularly the interplay of biomechanics, technological innovations, and musculoskeletal anatomy.

Dr. Goldstein remained at Indiana University to complete a rigorous five-year orthopedic surgery residency. During this time, his interests became increasingly focused on spinal care, leading him to pursue a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan — one of the highest-volume spine fellowships in the country. This advanced subspecialty training equipped him with comprehensive skills and experience in orthopedic spine surgery.

Currently, Dr. Goldstein’s practice at OrthoIllinois, a division of OrthoMidwest, centers on minimally-invasive and outpatient spine surgery. His clinical expertise includes total disc replacement in the cervical and lumbar spine, as well as Spinal Cord Stimulators for chronic pain management. As a dedicated specialist, Dr. Goldstein is committed to providing patients with the latest information and guidance, ensuring they understand their condition and available treatment options. He prioritizes collaborative decision-making to help patients choose the best course of action, whether it involves conservative, non-surgical approaches such as lumbar epidural injections or the most advanced, least invasive surgical procedures. Dr. Goldstein strives to foster confidence and comfort in his patients throughout their treatment journey.
