Ortho Illinois Physicians Work With Chicago Blackhawks, IceHogs

ROCKFORD, Ill. (Sept. 17, 2018) – Dr. Jon Whitehurst, Dr. Geoffrey Van Thiel and Dr. Scott Trenhaile orthopedic sports medicine specialists at OrthoIllinois, a leading bone and joint health care provider in northern Illinois, continue their work this year as part of the Chicago Blackhawks medical network.

Whitehurst and Van Thiel helped conduct preseason player physicals on Thursday, Sept. 13, in Chicago. As part of the network, all three physicians also cover Rockford IceHogs games.

OrthoIllinois has provided team physicians for the IceHogs since the league started in Rockford in 1999 and additionally for the Blackhawks since the IceHogs affiliated with the team in 2007.

At OrthoIllinois, Whitehurst and Trenhaile specialize in knees, shoulders and general sports medicine; Van Thiel specializes in hips, knees, shoulders and general sports medicine. Whitehurst and Van Thiel treat patients at OrthoIllinois locations in Rockford and Algonquin; Trenhaile treats patients in Rockford.
