ELGIN, Ill. (Sept. 1, 2020) – OrthoIllinois, a leading bone and joint provider in northern Illinois, welcomes rheumatologist Dr. Amrit Anand to its growing medical team this month.

Dr. Anand, a fellowship-trained and board-certified specialist, treats adults with osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, and many other autoimmune disorders. He has a special interest in caring for individuals with rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis and musculoskeletal conditions.

Originally from India, Dr. Anand loved caring for people and their needs from a young age. He was exposed to healthcare as a possible career by his grandfather and uncle, who were both doctors.

He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma in Chemistry and then pursued advanced training in physical therapy, also at the University of Oklahoma. After that, he practiced as a licensed physical therapist for four years in the Chicago area. He later enrolled in medical school, earning his medical degree in 2004 at Saba University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Michigan State University/Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and his rheumatology fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

“My goal as a rheumatologist is to get to the bottom of the issue at hand and following standards of care, prescribe state-of-the-art treatment to target autoimmune diseases with the goal of achieving remission,” he said. “This approach results in greater patient outcomes and disease control in the long run, which in turn leads to greater quality of life.”

Dr. Anand is accepting new patients at the OrthoIllinois Elgin Clinic, 1435 N. Randall Road, Suite 103. For appointments or more information, call 815-398-9491 or visit www.orthoillinois.com.
