OrthoIllinois welcomes Dr. Jacqueline Kannan to medical team

Posted on: September 1st, 2020 by Lynne Pratt

MCHENRY, Ill. (Sept. 1, 2020) – Rheumatologist Dr. Jacqueline Kannan will join the medical team at OrthoIllinois, a leading bone and joint provider in northern Illinois, beginning Sept. 1.

Dr. Kannan, a fellowship-trained specialist, treats adults with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, lupus, and many other autoimmune disorders. She has a special interest in rheumatoid arthritis and gout.

Growing up in Marion, Ohio, Dr. Kannan wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a physician. She was greatly influenced by his caring nature and how he was able to make a positive impact on his patients’ lives.

After graduating from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences, Dr. Kannan earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Northeast Ohio Medical University/Summa Health System and her rheumatology fellowship at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System at Chicago.

“Arthritis and other autoimmune diseases affect the entire body, so I was drawn to this specialty because it will allow me to care for patients as a whole instead of focusing on one single aspect of their health,” she said. “I was attracted to rheumatology because it will allow me to develop meaningful, long-lasting relationships with my patients due to the chronicity of these diseases.”

Dr. Kannan is accepting new patients for September appointments at the OrthoIllinois McHenry Clinic located at 4119 W. Shamrock Lane, Suite 103, along Route 31 near Bull Valley Road. For appointments or more information, call 815-398-9491 or visit www.orthoillinois.com.
